Vietnam Culture

One of Southeast Asia’s oldest cultures, the Vietnamese culture is greatly influenced by the Chinese culture. When France controlled the country in the 1800s, Western culture and architecture were introduced into the country, along with Catholicism and the Latin alphabet.

Over 70 percent of the Vietnamese population are Buddhists, with most of them adopting Mahayana Buddhism which was introduced into the country by the Chinese.
